Hello There! I hope everyone had a memorable 4th of July. Our celebrations started on Wednesday and just ended yesterday. And as usual we had lots of family over. We played games, had great food and fun conversations. This year instead of showing a movie, we had a tribute to Michael Jackson. We have a lot of his music videos on DVD and we played those and danced and sang. Say or think what you will about MJ, he was a Master with music and it was a joy to see my mom dancing and singing to the same songs that my 13 year old was singing and dancing to. MJ's music is woven into the fabric of all of our lives and he will be missed. One more thing...my dad worked with abandoned and troubled youth for many years. The facility where he worked was visited and supported by many celebrities. Michael J was a huge supporter of the facility and he visited often, as well as making donations of his time, money and material things, like clothing, shoes, etc. I never got the opportunity to meet him, but my dad did. He told us that he thought Michael was a very misunderstood, sad and child-like young man.
Okay onto the card...
This is another graduation card. It is very simple in design. I was inspired by a card I saw on Nichole's blog...sorry I can't find it now to link directly to it. I did pierce along the flourish and the center focal is mounted on foam tape. The brown you see there is a piece of dark chocolate satin ribbon...nothing too fancy. The inside is decorated a bit and there is a slot for money or a money card. I think this is the last of them!
Supplies-cardstock and papers:Perfect Day Level 2 paper pack(CTMH). stamps:Birds of a Feather(PTI). Playful Flourishes(CTMH). ink:Sorbet, Chocolate(CTMH). ribbon:Chocolate satin(Offray). Ticket Corner Punch(SU!). Scor-Pal.
Blessings~

Hi Barb! Your cards are beautiful! Thank you for sharing your thoughts about Michael Jackson. He was a huge talent, and your dad was lucky to meet him and witness firsthand the help he gave to others.
Ooo, this is so pretty! I have always liked this paper you used. The sentiment is perfect!
What a glorious card! You always inspire me with your creations. You have a great eye for detail.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about MJ. I had Thriller and a few other albums growing up and really admired his musical and dancing talents. I'm sad though at all the brouhaha over his death. I say let him just rest in peace please.
How wonderful that your dad got to meet him and see what a wonderful, if misunderstood person he truly was.
Very pretty and glad you guys had a great holiday! MJ will be greatly missed and may he rest in peace!
I am glad you had a great 4th...sounds like a blast!
I wish the media would just leave this whole thing alone and let it be.
Your card is gorgeous. I love that paper pack you used and think it makes a very elegant card.
Thanks for sharing Barb!
Beautiful card with such a graceful focal point. Love the colors and paper choice.
Glad you enjoyed your LONG holiday with family. Sounds like your own tribute to MJ was enjoyed by all. Thanks for sharing your [dad's]story about MJ...not many people have the opportunity to see that side of a well-known celebrity.
Hi Barbara,
I love your card. You've done a beautiful job!!! Thanks for sharing.
Oh Barb, your card is beautiful girl! I love your bird and the paper piercing within the flourish is beautiful!
I've been a fan of MJ since I was a kid. My entire family was saddened by his death! His candle truly blew out too soon.
Glad to know that you and your family had a beautiful holiday. MJ's music has a certain appeal to both the young and older crowd. One of my many fav.s is The Man In The Mirror....the message makes one think about themselves.
Well enough babbling, I don't want to put you to sleep:)
Enjoy your evening and have a great weekend.
hugs
Risa:)
Gooooorgeous!
And I love your festive blog theme, too :)
Inky Smiles!
