Insider Class ~ Homework Day 2

Hello Friends! I'm here to share another card I created for my Insider class. Well, I thought I had seen it all and then, I clicked 'play' on the video for day 2. I had to lie down after all the awesomeness those ladies shared with us. True story. There are many techniques that I learned in day 2 that I will be using on future cards, but, for today, I am sharing a tri-fold card I created, using a technique that the fabulous Kristina Werner taught us.

The concept here, was to take the outside of the card and carry it over to the inside.

So my card starts off just like any other A2 sized card. I stamped the hot air balloons and after making a couple of masks with some cloud dies, I dusted Distress Ink over the entire piece, then removed the masks to reveal the clouds. I decided that I would add a little more dimension to the card by mounting a few of the balloons with dimensional adhesive.

Then, when the card is opened, three panels are revealed. This was the best way for me to show you how the card opens. The card forms a "Z" as it's opened. It's REALLY cool in real life! You can see a lot more of the dimensional balloons in this picture. I didn't pop them all up, just a few.

And finally, the entire card is opened and the inside and the outside are one continuous piece. Pretty neat, huh?

This was such a fun card to make. But I must tell you, it took me four attempts to get it the way you see it here. When I am learning a new technique, I try it out on scrap paper first. Then, I'll move to the inexpensive card stock and try the technique on that. Once I feel comfortable with what I'm doing, I'll use my 'good stuff' and create the finished project. You may also notice a few smudges on the front panel. Yeah...those are my grubby finger prints. I stamped the greeting and didn't let it dry before I started fiddling with it to take the picture! That's an easy fix...later. Another fun fact about this card is that I used NO patterned paper! *gasp!* It's true! I used nothing but stamps, card stock and ink. I think I might like to try that more often.
