Into the Woods and Ink Smooshing

Hello Friends! Happy Tuesday! I have been seeing a lot of ink smooshing going on out in Blog Land. So, I thought I would give it a go. Now. This was my first attempt. Be gentle. I know I need more practice, but I wanted to share this card with all of you anyway.

I needed to make a card for a friend in need of a little cheering up. She likes foxes, so I thought that the Lawn Fawn Into the Woods stamp set would be perfect for her card.

First, I die cut a piece of watercolor paper with one of the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle dies. I embossed the log with brown embossing powder. Then, I did my ink smooshing. If you're not familiar with the ink smooshing technique, the short version is, you put some ink onto a slick surface, acrylic block, craft sheet, page protector, etc. Then you spritz it with water and pick it up with a piece of acetate and you smoosh it onto your watercolor paper. It gives a random, but controlled look to your watercolored background. It was fun technique and I plan to try again.

I stamped the other elements onto smooth white card stock and colored them with Copic markers. And I fussy cut them out. After my background was dry, I matted it with green card stock, tied on a bit of linen thread and adhered it to my card base. I added that sweet button and then, I used foam tape to adhere all of the other elements onto the focal panel. And as a final touch, I added clear Wink of Stella to the fox and the mushrooms. Quite sparkly! :)

I decorated the inside of the card, as well...

I used sentiments from two different Papertrey Ink stamp sets. And to add a bit of whimsy to go with the "smiles" sentiment, I used the smiling faces from Lawn Fawn's Sweet Smiles stamp set. I just love all the different smiles in that set.

And that was it! My card was complete. Thank you for dropping by today. I appreciate it.

Blessings~

Oh my gosh I MUST pin this! Except my pin button isn't working on I Pad since verson 9 or .1 drats! Such a cutie! I love the thought of a grassy background as well as your sky! Great control there with your smooshing placement Barb! Preicous precious card!

Well I think you did an excellent job on your first go with paper smooshing! What a great background for your cute little sparkly scene! Adore the little fox and mushrooms. I think the addition of the twine is perfect and you absolutely cannot go wrong with the sparkle. I adore all the smiles on the inside, too. Fantastic card! Hugs!

I agree with the other ladies, Barb --I think you did a great job with the smooshing technique and I'm impressed with your placement of the colors and how perfectly it worked for your woodsy scene's background! Your card is adorable, and of course your signature sparkle and shine really add to the cute factor. I'm sure your friend will be cheered by your sweetness and the card's smile-inducing effect {those little smiley faces around the sentiments are too cute!}.
