Hello Friends and happy Monday to ya! I promised you on Friday that I would have a quick and easy Valentine's Day card to share with you. And here I am, ready to make good on that promise. I'll be using the newest digital stamp set from Power Poppy, called Follow Your Heart. Just look at this beauty...
Marcella says,"This puffy heart is packed with ravishing roses and a lust for life! Pointing the way is an arrow whose design was inspired by one I spotted on a vintage ruby-encrusted brooch." I love that she shares where she draws her inspiration. Can't you just picture the brooch?! When I first received this set I thought, that gorgeous rose laden heart can stand on its own. And I decided to go clean and simple...
So what I did here was re-color the image in Microsoft Word and then just printed it onto vanilla card stock. I went around the outside of the heart with a warm grey colored pencil to add a shadow. I used a Gold Wink of Stella glitter brush on the arrow. I stamped the "LOVE YOU" with brown ink, added a few gold sequins, tied on a ribbon knot, matted the focal, then adhered it onto the card base. Easy peasy! Leaving the image uncolored is definitely a time-saver and makes a beautiful card, but the image also looks very sweet colored in...
I printed this one in black and added the greeting that is included in the set. The greeting is very versatile and can be used any time of year; on cards of encouragement, motivation, even graduation or retirement cards. And I just love the font...sooo pretty! I used Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils for coloring and I softened the color with a bit of Gamsol. Simple matting, a few scattered sequins and a touch of gold Wink of Stella, were the finishing touches for this quick and easy card.
I made one more...Click on the picture to enlarge it.
Do you see it? The gold blob?! A big ol' blob of Stella came out and there was nothing I could do. I tried covering it with a sequin, but that looked silly. Soooo...any ideas? This one is double matted with colors to match the roses and it's actually my favorite. I printed this one in red and used Polychromos for coloring and Gamsol for blending.
Okay..I've got a confession to make...I was going to have four cards to share with you today. The three you see here and the fourth one, I was going to foil with my mini Minc machine. But...The Hive is a MESS right now and I could not find my foil! Oh my goodness, I know it's in here somewhere. I'm going to do a little tidying up today and hopefully I can find it. I would love to foil this image with rose gold. Whew! I feel so much better now that I've gotten that off my chest.

Beautiful card, Barb, and I really love the CAS of each one. So sorry about that "blog!" I've done stuff like that and really get frustrated when it happens after coloring something - bad, Wink of Stella pen. Hope you spanked it - hehe! But truly, this image lends itself to simplicity and elegance. And hope you get your Hive cleaned up some. I know about that and have slowly been working on reorganizing. And I've had to put large Brother labels on places to remind me where I've put things - hehe! Hugs, sweet friend!
Lovely, clean and simple and chic.
Have you tried a VERY sharp craft knife blade to sort of shave off that big ole blob? Cheers.
Beautiful work to showcase that lovely digital image. Each one is gorgeous in it's own way. I'm so sorry you got the gold blob there. That is SO frustrating. My first thought was to see if you could scrape it off, but I think it might be a tad too big of a spot for that and would show where you scraped it. My next thought was to use an exacto/craft knife or scissors and carefully cut out the heart and attach it to a new piece of vanilla cardstock. Maybe even popping it up with some pop dots. Then you could have a bit of pattern paper under it to kind of peek through. Good luck! And good luck cleaning up the hive. I SO know how that goes!! Hugs!!
The cards are gorgeous and I seriously doubt if I would have caught the "blob" if you hadn't mentioned it! Your work is beautiful!
These are so pretty Barb. I like the crisp and clean feeling and your set is wonderful.
