Magnolia Sunshine

Hello Friends, Happy Friday! It's the fifth of the month and that means I have a Power Poppy treat to share with you today. Marcella releases a new digi on the 'fives', meaning the 5th, 15th, and 25th. The 5th and 15th are remixes of previous stamp sets that she released in the past. And on the 15th she gives us a brand new, never before seen digi set. Sooo, mark your calendars if you want to add to your Instant Garden.  This set is called Magnolia Sunshine. It's loaded with Springtime blooms; saucer magnolias, trumpet daffodils and snowdrops. These are among Marcella's mother's favorite flowers and she grows many varieties of these in her garden.

Isn't this just glorious?? I love it! And the sentiments are perfect for an encouragement card. The bottom one is from The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, one of my favorite books. Today is also Day Five of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge, and I chose to color this gorgeous image with Copic markers. It's been a while since I used my Copics, I was little rusty. So, let's take a look at what I did with this beauty.

I printed the image onto my favorite card stock for Copic coloring, Cryogen Iridescent White. I like this card stock, because it has sparkles in the paper and it doesn't flake or rub off. My entire focal panel has a subtle shimmer and I think that's marvelous! Anyway, I dusted on Antique Linen Distress ink while the image was still in the die. - click on the image to see detail. I also added Crystal Effects to the little berries. And although I love the sentiments included with the set, I needed a birthday card, so I used the "Happy Birthday" from the Go Wild stamp set, also from Power Poppy. I stamped the greeting in chocolate ink and then used a few punches on it.

This card is larger than the normal size I make. It's 5 x 7, because I received a request for a larger card. I don't know about you but, I like the A2 sized cards. I just think they're cute. Heck! I was thinking about going smaller, because I really like the look of the 4 bar sized cards. Those are adorable! But, back to this card for now...I created my card base and added a slice of patterned paper then, tied on a bow made with eggshell seam binding. All that was left to do was assemble the card. I matted the focal with a Lacy Circle and adhered it with dimensional adhesive and did the same thing with the greeting. To finish it off, I added a few pearls.

And that is it for me today. Do me a favor and take a moment to buzz by the Power Poppy blog to see what awesomeness my Teammies have to share with you. This is a beautiful set and I know they have done wonderful things with it.

Thanks for visiting me today. I hope you have a fantastic Friday!

Blessings~

Beautiful card, Barb, and your coloring is soft and lovely! I must admit that I've not used Cryogen Iridescent White paper and will have to try it. I always love a nice shimmer, and I love that it's Copic friendly! Beautifully finished off with the scalloped circle, DP, and beautiful bow! Hugs, sweet friend!

All those creamy shades give this such a soft and delicate feel. Beautifully done Barbara. I bet the 5 x 7 size really shows off the bouquet even more.

Warm and beautiful and simply stunning, Barb! I've not tried Copics on that paper, but I love how it turned out. So pretty with the magnolia print designer paper. Sometimes a large card is just right but, like you, I hardly ever make them.

What a gloriously gorgeous card, Barb! You've done an amazing job coloring the flowers. Thanks for explaining why you like that cardstock. I'd love it too for the shimmer! I don't think you were a bit rusty with your Copics. I adore how you dust your backgrounds before you take them out of the dies. The paper you chose fits the theme wonderfully. A really spectacular card, Barb! Happy weekend to you! Hugs!
