Hello Friends! It's August 5th and that means it's time for a new Power Poppy "Digi on the 5's". Marcella has re-mixed another beautiful one for us, this one is called Apples In Season.
I love this set! I've been searching online for the clear set. Then, BOOM! Marcy provides it for me in digital format which is actually better in some ways, because I can re-size it for various projects. I tell ya, Marcella and I, we are vibing on the same wave length! Just WAIT till you see what she has designed for the August release! Oh my word! It's like she can hear my thoughts! Anyway...boy, did I get off topic. Sooooo...back to today's re-mixed digi. When I first saw the image, I knew right away what I wanted to do with it. I wanted to watercolor the apples red. My color palette was going to be red and black and I planned to use some really pretty black and white gingham ribbon. I printed off a few images and I sat down to color and THIS happened...
Um. Well...yeah. All of a sudden, I was coloring Golden Delicious apples instead of my sweet Gala, Pink Lady or Red Delicious apples. I don't know what happened. AND I used Copic markers to color instead of watercoloring! And there you have it! It's printed onto smooth white card stock, that was die cut with a Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle die. I added a greeting from another Power Poppy digital set(Juicy Strawberries), matted the focal with Soft Suede card stock and mounted it onto my card base. To finish it off, I gave the apple blossoms a coat of Spectrum Sparkle and I added a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins.
I kept it super simple on the inside and just printed the quote included in the set, onto a die cut piece of card stock. I added a strip of the same patterned paper from the front of the card for continuity.

Oh Barb, your story about the was going to be red, but now golden apples was so funny!!! In saying that - your Golden Delicious Apples are awesome and so different!! I love the yellow hues of your card and the sentiment you used is perfect!!
Oooh, how fun that your muse took you in a completely different and unexpected direction. I was totally visualizing what you described and then, whomp, there is your gorgeous but completely different card. Love it! You do what you gotta do! Fabulous work, my sweet friend! Hahaha,, I laughed out loud when I saw the golden delicious apples - after hearing how you would use red and black and some gingham . . . that was a delightful story! I love the final product - it's simply luminous in golden color and a true work of art. Excellent!

Oh, sweet Barb, you are a delight! I love reading your journeys about how you start and finish your card! Cute - how you started with red and ended up with Golden Delicious! Golden Delicious, one of my mothers favorite apples. I really love the colors you chose and the patterned paper, it's a great combination.
