Power Poppy ~ Hyacinth Bulb in Glass

Hello Friends! Happy Spring! Happy April! Spring has sprung in my neck of the woods. EVERYTHING is blooming! I live in California and since we had soooo much rain this Winter, the hillsides surrounding my home where covered with California poppies! It was stunning! Magical! So awesome, in fact, that the display created traffic jams on the highway and people were pulled over, getting out of their vehicles to snap pictures. There were people posing with their dogs, their children including little babies that needed to be propped up and I read that there was even a bride in her wedding gown out there one day! This was considered a Super Bloom. I've lived in this area for 27 years and I can attest that this year we had the biggest display of poppies ever. It was truly a sight to behold.

Since today is April 5th, there's a  remixed digi set in the Power Poppy shop. It's another beauty and it's perfect for Spring. This one is called Hyacinth Bulb in Glass. If you've never had the pleasure of sniffing a hyacinth, I urge you to try it. They smell AH-MAY-ZING! Marcella has given us a wonderful handwritten quote from Coco Chanel to go with the beautiful hyacinth.

For my card, I decided to use the layout that Marcella provided for us in the graphic.

I printed the image onto smooth white card stock and cut it out with my Brother ScanNCut. Then I colored it with Prismacolor colored pencils. I had a blast coloring this. It took a while but, that's the nature of working with colored pencils. I used gamsol and a blending stump on the base color of the petals. And I used my pencils to blend everything else. After I finished coloring, I mounted the image onto the card base with foam tape. I used a tiny bit of Clear Wink of Stella on the bottom portion of the glass bulb and then I went over that with Crystal Effects. I put Tiny Twinkles in the petal centers and finished the card off with a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

And that is all I have for you today. This set is available now in the Power Poppy shop. And, please take a moment to visit the Power Poppy blog, not only will you find the names and links for the other Instant Gardeners who created a project with this set, but you're in for a treat because Marcella shares a wonderful backstory for each release. Please don't miss out on those! Buzz on over! You'll be glad you did.

Thank you so much for stopping by! I appreciate the visit. Until next time...

Blessings~

Oh my goodness, Barb! What a glorious picture of the luscious California Poppies! How lucky are you to be able to see those blooms. I'm still trying to get some to grow here. There's a house near mine that grows them, so I know it can be done. :) But I won't be able to top that picture. Wow! And your card! That is gorgeous, too. Your coloring is superb. I love all the loving detail you add to your cards. They just sing! This post just made me smile all over. Thanks so much!! :) Hugs!!

Oh, sweet Barb, I am thrilled to see your beautiful card and really love how gorgeous it's colored! I love the layout with the image popped atop the stitched die and then over the postage die. Beautifully done, as always! Hugs! xoxo
