Power Poppy ~ Monarchs & Milkweed

Hello,Friends! Today is the 25th of July and that means that there is a new digi in the Power Poppy shop. I am super excited about this one. It is so pretty and so detailed and so BIG! Feast your eyes on Monarchs & Milkweed...

This is what Marcy has to say about this very special image...

"Based on an original watercolor and gouache painting created for a graduation ceremony, this scene of transformation follows the Monarch from caterpillar through chrysalis to butterfly. Milkweed (Asclepius) is the only plant on which a Monarch will lay eggs, and here we celebrate the phases of Milkweed as well, from seeds carried away by the wind, through buds and flowering, to the formation of new seed pods. This beautiful image is accompanied by a hand lettered quote with these wonderful Lauryn Hill lyrics:
 "Everything is everything;
What is meant to be, will be;
After winter must come Spring;
Change, it comes eventually."

The image is a larger format than most of our digis, 6" across, and of course can be enlarged or reduced in a photo editing program. Lighter "no-line" format image also included."

Isn't is just lovely?! So much symbolism. I was very pleased when I heard that it was being added to the Power Poppy shop. I didn't have a lot of time to color so I have a work in progress to share with you today...click to enlarge.

I printed the image at it's original size onto smooth white card stock and I'm coloring it with Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils. I love the darkness of the butterfly wings! I'm looking forward to finishing this piece. I plan to frame it and hang it in The Hive. It could also be cut with decorative dies and used on a card. Or how pretty would this look colored and foiled?! There are so many possibilities with an image this size!

That's it for me today. Thank you for stopping by! Buzz on over to the Power Poppy blog to take a look at what's going on over there. And don't forget to visit the PP blog tomorrow to see the what the Bloomies have in store for you featuring the new clear stamp release.

Have a terrific Tuesday!

 Blessings~
