Hello, Friends! Happy Autumn! I'll tell you what, LIFE has been very intense these last several weeks. And the very last thing on my mind was creating. Then when things slowed a bit, I wanted to make some black and white cards. I knew that the images needed to be strong enough to stand on their own, uncolored. And immediately, I thought of my Power Poppy collection. Well, LIFE showed up in a big way again and I shoved that idea aside. That is until...Marcella contacted us about a new release. And friends, the moment I saw the illustrations, I knew that I had found exactly what I was looking for. Take a look at Folklore Flora!
This set of images is simply gorgeous and so very versatile. You MUST visit the Power Poppy blog to learn about the inspiration for this collection. And this time, Marcella has done something different. For the first time ever, she is offering her artwork as individual full color paintings for us to print at home, make cards with, frame. Just no mass printings. All of that information is on the blog. And let me tell ya, these images are beautiful! I know you're going to love them!
Now, let's take a look at the cards I created...
The original plan was to print the images on white card stock, mat them with black card stock and then adhere them to a white card base. I did a trial run of that and I liked it and plan to revisit it again. BUT...the colorist in me said, "Hey! Why not add a little color? One apple. One fig." So that's what I did and I like it!
These were simply colored with my Derwent Procolour colored pencils. Then matted onto card stock and adhered flat onto the card bases. Easy to make and easy to mail! Each image was assigned a color and that color is what I used to mat the images. Just a thin sliver of color to echo the color in the name of the image. I really do look forward to coloring them in entirely, especially the buckeye. I had a blast layering and blending colors for that one. I had to stop myself from coloring the whole thing!
This is definitely not my norm, but I really like the results. Please take a moment to buzz over to the Power Poppy blog to see what my team mates have created to share with you. Thank you for visiting with me today. I truly appreciate it!
Until next time...
Blessings~

Well, I sure hope life settles down for you, my friend, so you can fully engage in your cardmaking or whatever your heart desires. This is a lovely compromise until that time comes. Your coloring skills always impress me! Big hugs to you.
