Valentine's Day

I'm really behind on some things, so I probably will not scrap these photos until sometime next week...maybe. But, I wanted to share a bit of our Valentine's Day with all of you before Cupid hung his arrow up for the year!

Every year we've been together, My Man does his 'thing' on V-Day. When Vic was a little girl, he would send us out for a walk and when we returned home, he would have the dining room all decorated for us and then serve us dinner. Well, now we have two daughters and they are older and we know how to 'get lost' in the house now, so we don't go out for a walk anymore, but My Man, still does his 'thing'. Take a look...

This year he requested that we 'dress' for dinner. Hair, makeup, jewelry, the whole bit. And he invited each of us to dinner by special invitation. It was all very sweet and the girls were over the moon!

I decorated the table, but he arranged the dessert plates. My Man used to assist me with my Tea Room business years ago and he really enjoys playing with food. He does an awesome fruit platter and often gets requests from family members to make a platter for their events. I thought about using a red table cloth, but I really like the look of my glass table, so I opted for our everyday mats. I need to make some nicer ones to go with the china and crystal.

I decorate for every occasion, every season. So, I pulled out my cherubs and hearts for the dining table.

Since the girls came downstairs before dinner was ready, they were seated in the living room to wait for their table, and also for their Mum, as I was running a bit late.

Of course we took photos...

We were wishing that a neighbor was home to capture a photo of all four us.

It was finally dinnertime. My Man served us a wonderful Caesar salad as a first course. Then he brought out this plate of delicious-ness.

We had shrimp scampi, button mushrooms sauteed in Chardonnay, lobster tail and king crab legs, with herb roasted baby red potatoes, steamed broccoli and a crescent roll. YUM-O!! He prepared everything except the broccoli and salad. The girls and I did the veggies. We also had a bit of pink champagne, my favorite!!

And then...dessert. A huge chocolate covered strawberry!

This day is extra special for My Man and me because on Valentine's Day in 1999, we renewed our wedding vows at a couples retreat. So this is an anniversary for us as well! All in all we had a ball! Dinner took well over 2 hours. We were commenting to one another how rushed we would feel if we had chosen to go out for dinner at a restaurant. Then after dinner we danced...

Thank you so much for visiting with me today. I posted about V-Day in detail for my mum, my MIL,my god mother and my aunties who read my blog. Thanks for bearing with me. Tomorrow, I will post a card or something.

Blessings~

Barb,
What an awesome tradition. I'm jealous. Thanks for sharing it with us ... now I need to figure out a way to tweak it and make it a "Harris Tradition".
You found yourself quite a catch in your man!

What a fabulous tradition and a fabulous meal! Around here, Valentine's Day is pretty much just another day. I did make a special Valentine treat (red velvet cookie sandwiches) this year but that was about it.

AMAZING! It looks as though you transformed your home into a 5-star restaurant! All the detail that went into your own unique brand of Valentine evening is spectacular! --what a special and fancy V-Day tradition your family has (I'll bet the girls will be continuing this when they're married)! And you all look so nice! The food sounds and looks scrumptious and the presentation is beautiful. What a catch your man is, Barb -- you're definitely blessed in so many ways! Thanks for letting us in on your special celebration of love. ;)
