Elephant Hearts?!

Hello Friends! Not to worry, this isn't an icky post, Elephant Hearts is the name of the stamp set I used to create a few more cards in my Cards for Kids series. I've completed the series and the cards have all been mailed off to the client who ordered them. I told her that creating cards for kids was quite a challenge for me, because I don't do it very often. Another request from this client, was that the cards be simple and left blank on the inside. Whew! I tell you what, leaving them blank on the inside was fairly easy, but I had a dickens of a time keeping the exterior simple. Simple as in, not too much dimension, not too many layers and embellishments because the cards are intended for children, ages 0-10. I had to put on my creative thinking cap for this order!

So, you may have seen the first card I created for this client HERE. I also realized that I don't own many stamp sets that would work for kids and believe me, I have a few on order now! For today's card share, I am using one of the stamp sets that I received from the giveaway box from Jennifer McGuire. You can read about that in my previous post, HERE.

I decided to use a really cute stamp set from the Sweet Stamp Shop, called Elephant Hearts. It's a small set, but it's packed with tons of goodness; two images and 4 sentiments. Sweet.

I created two cards, both 4 bar sized for little hands. I used lots of Lawn Fawn on these, including the patterned papers and the focal panel die. When I saw this little elephant, I knew I had to use it on one of my cards for kids.

I kept the design simple, as per my client's request, but I did use a few techniques; paper piecing, and sponged clouds. On this card, I added a sentiment, which is also in the stamp set. I couldn't resist. I just love the saying and the font. The little grassy area under the elephant is from a Lawn Fawn stamp set, Critters on the Savanna. I added Crystal Effects to the balloons for a bit of shine and on the pink elephant card, the balloons also have a touch of clear Wink of Stella.

My client requested unisex cards and I respected that for the most part. However, I really needed to create a pink polka dotted elephant card! It was welling up inside me and I had to let it out. Originally, I was going to keep it and add it to my Card Boutique, but when she saw it, she wanted it, too! I think this little elephant is just adorable and I will be using this stamp set again very soon.

And that's all I have for you today. Thank you so much for visiting. Have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend!

Blessings~

You rose to the occasion wonderfully, Barb! These are very kid friendly cards!! Adore those polka dotted elephants and you added just enough technique to make them more visually interesting and lively. Excellent work my friend. Hey, did you get any of that rain that fell in Southern CA last week? My dad actually got a little more than a thimble-full. Hugs!!

question--did you stamp and cut out each of the balloons from the different paper. then also with the elephants?
