Hello, hello, hello my friends and Happy New Year! I am back from a much needed break and I'm ready to roll. Today, I have a brand new Power Poppy digital image to share. Marcella loves flowers and that's a really good thing for me, because I love them too. Not only are they beautiful in the garden or on display in a vase, they are also a lot of fun to color. This digital set is called Hellebores. It includes the floral and the sentiment.
***Since I am still experiencing resolution issues with Blogger, I have elected to post my photos at a smaller size. I apologize for that. But, you may click on any photo to enlarge it. Thank you.
Now, I have to admit, I had NO idea what these flowers looked like, but a quick Google search fixed that. I encourage you to do a search of your own, because the range of colors is AMAZING! From white to pink, purple to blue and black. Hellebores, sometimes called the Lenten Rose or the Christmas Rose bloom in the winter and early spring. They are beautiful and very hardy. It is from these pictures that I drew inspiration for the colors on my card.
I printed the image and sentiment onto the smooth side of a die cut piece of Canson XL watercolor paper. My original intent was to watercolor it but, at the last moment I decided to use my Faber-Castell Polychromos instead. And, I used a bit of Gamsol to blend different areas of image.
After all of the coloring was finished, I added highlights of sparkle with a Clear Stardust pen. And I put a light coat of Crystal Effects on the vase. I put a few Sparkling Clear sequins around the sentiment to draw the eye to it. I just love the quote. It says: "The inspiration you seek is already within you. Be silent and listen." ~ Rumi This is perfect for me at this time in my life. I kept the card design simple, and just matted the focal and adhered it to the card base with dimensional adhesive. And that is that!
Thank you for stopping by today! I appreciate it.
Blessings~

First of all...hello beautiful you in that photo on the sidebar!! Thanks so much for sharing it! :) Your card is stunning! I have never heard of that flower, but saw it on the Power Poppy blog. You did a magnificent job coloring it. Your colors are soft and blended to perfection. I agree that quote is wonderful, too. So filled with encouragement. I am so happy to see you again. I'm glad you took a rest filled break and feel refreshed now. Can't wait to see what else you are working on. Big Hugs!
Beautiful coloring! You made it come alive!
Your coloring of this is just beautiful, Barb. Very true to life. I always enjoy seeing pencil coloring since I'm just learning to love my pencils, as well. I like the color blend you chose for the blooms.
Just so gorgeous I had to Pin! I love flowers from Marcella and so look forward to her February Release! I don't buy digital images because my computer is so old, therefore my word program to edit the file is old, some day! Your new pencils did this flower justice nicely done Barb!
Oh, Barb, what a beautiful card with stunning coloring! I love how you use your pencil and achieve such beautiful results. I love the simply elegant layout with the lovely matting to accentuate the rich purples. And the sequins are a finishing touch. Yes, aren't these flowers amazing in the colors they grow? Wow, I love them and know I will make more cards with this digi. Hugs, sweet friend, and I also love your new photo!
Barb, your card is absolutely fabulous!!
Just fabulous, Barb!
