Celebrate Today

Hello Friends! Happy May! I have a card to share today. I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest. You can see that card HERE. A friend of mine hit the big 5-0 and he has such a wonderful sense of humor, I knew he would appreciate this card.

Get it? LOL! I wanted the card to be nice, but still have the 'burned edge', so I created a focal panel where I could do the 'burned edge' technique and I adhered that onto patterned paper with dimensional adhesive. You have to click the pic, to really appreciate the technique. The burned edge was really easy to do. I sponged on layers of brown and mustard ink. Then I distressed the edge and sponged some more. After being manipulated so much, the paper rips and tears naturally. So I sponged some more! Then did a lighter sponging around the area to give it that 'sooty' look. Easy peasy. The flames are from a digital scrapbook kit. I printed them onto card stock and cut them out. After I glued them down, I went over them with a glitter pen to add a teensy bit of sparkle. This is what's on the inside...

I used an old Sizzix alpha set for the 50. I gave the numerals a spritz of gold shimmer and in real life, they are very sparkly. The 'years ago...got you!' is computer generated. After I printed it out, I built everything around it. After I die-cut the sentiment piece, I adhered it with dimensional adhesive. This card turned out exactly as I envisioned it. LOVE it when that happens!

In addition to the card, I sent him a little goodie...I also got this idea from Pinterest. See it HERE. I spend A LOT of time growing my Pinterest boards. I love that I can do it on my phone. When I'm out and bored, think...grocery store lines, waiting for daughter to finish dance class, waiting for other daughter to get out of school...I can access the Pinterest site and add things or learn something new.

I used a Nestie to die-cut the card stock for this one. Then I used some old stickers from Creative Memories to add the words and such. I made one for the front and one for the back. I put a popsicle stick in between them and stuck it into the bucket with all the lollipops. Believe it or not, there are 50 Tootsie Pops in there. I put the whole thing inside a cellophane bag and tied it with a ribbon. And I can say that he has received it and he loved it!

I thank you so much for dropping by today. I know it's been quiet around here, things will pick up soon. It's the end of the school year for us home schoolers, so I'm spending a lot of time finishing up paper work and also getting ready for the next school year.

Have a great weekend. I don't think I'll post again until next week...maybe. :)

Blessings~
