Tic-Tac-Toe

Hello Friends! There is something fun going on at the Meljen's Designs blog this month. It's a Tic-Tac-Toe game. We are to create a project using three different types of embellishments chosen from this board in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal direction. Take a look at this...

This is sooo much fun! It really jump starts the mojo! I have so many ideas floating around in my head, I hope I can create a few more cards for the game. The winner gets free Meljen's Digital images...you know I love that! For my card I used Halloween Cupcake, one of Melissa's newest designs. Isn't it cute?! I just love the little bats on here. My tic-tac-toe for this card is, "buttons, bling, twine".

I had so much fun creating this card! It took me two days, but it was well worth it. I really wanted something simple but cute and I loved the way this turned out! I did a lot of glittering and of course I added my tiny twinkles. And I also made the rosette behind the cupcake. I used my Martha Stewart Scoring Board and a piece of patterned paper. It was SUPER-DEE-DUPER EASY PEASY, I promise! After I watched a how-to video on YouTube, I was making rosettes all over the place.

People have asked how I 'glitter'. I use a Quickie Glue Pen. I outline the image and use a stick pin to pull the glue around the image. That way I don't get puddles of glue, resulting in globs of glitter and un-recognizable shapes. It is time consuming, but I find it very relaxing and the end result is wonderful. I used a border punch to give the rosette a bit more interest. I wanted to mimic the cupcake liner peaks. And, I meant to spray the rosette with shimmer spray, but I forgot.

Here is how I finished off the inside. I just love this paper collection and the coordinating chip board pieces are sooo cute!  I added this little pumpkin dude for balance. His face cracks me up! The finished card is 5x5.

Love it! I think I might have to head over to Meljens and get that cupcake image, it's so darn cute! Thanks for sharing how you glitter. I didn't know that and those are some good tips. I think rosettes are so fun to make. I didn't watch the video yet, but I need a chart or something to tell me if I need more than one 12 inch strip to complete the rosette. LOL

Barb, your work is always fantastic. Thank you for sharing!
