For My Mum

Hello Friends! I hope you are being inspired by the Mother's Day cards I've shared so far. Think outside the box with them, they can easily be made into birthday cards, or thinking of you cards just by changing the greeting. Recently, I was inspired by one of my favorite card designers, Kristina Werner. She created this GORGEOUS card here, in her Make a Card Monday series.  I just had to try one of my own.

I stamped the flowers and the greeting onto vellum card stock, in Versamark ink and then embossed them. I colored the flowers with Copics. NOTE: Do not color embossed images with Copic markers, you will ruin the tips. I colored the image on the back side of the embossing. That is what gives it a muted, stained glass effect. When using Copics on vellum, no need to worry about blending. Vellum is not porous and blending is almost impossible, so just color away! After I colored the flowers, I stamped on some leaves. Since my leaf stamp is a solid image, I used two colors of ink on them, to give them dimension and shading. To adhere the vellum, I used a liquid adhesive and applied tiny dots behind the white embossed areas, behind the rhinestones and underneath the white scallop strip across the top of the card. This was a fun technique to try. I've colored on vellum, but not with an embossed image. I will definitely be using this technique again!

That's all for me today! Thanks for stopping in. Have a good one!

Blessings~

What a beautiful card, Barb! What a neat technique, too. The stained glass look is so pretty, love the white embossing to make it stand out and all the great design elements in the scallops and rounding the corners. Then the added bonus of the tips you share. Wonderful work!

So pretty! And thanks for the Copic tip! I haven't tried coloring embossed images yet.

Thanks for sharing this fabulous technique, Barb. Your card is fantastic. The colors are muted and vibrant at the same time. The embossing really makes the flowers pop.
