Wonderful Mother

Hello Friends! I've got another Mother's Day card to share. This one features the Whitewash technique. I have seen cards featuring this technique on Pinterest and I love the look of it, so I thought I would have a go with this sweet floral image from WPlus9. I found a very informative How-To video on Stamp TV and I pretty much CASED the card from the video. :)

Okay...here we go.

Really super simple technique. I know it may not look like it, but trust me...it is SUPER simple. And I like that! Because it's something that I can do more often and achieve beautiful results. Here's the jist of it...

I stamped my image with Versamark ink and embossed it with white powder. Then using a white pigment ink pad and a damp water brush, I brushed ink over the stamped image and let it dry completely. This only took a few minutes. Then I used ink from my ink pads and a water brush to color over the white ink. I only added a little water, because I did not use water color paper and I didn't want my card stock to pill. So, I added a little color and let it dry while I worked on another section. After the piece was completely colored and dry, I took a napkin and wiped any excess ink off of the embossing powder. To finish off the blooms, I used my clear Wink of Stella glitter brush. I stamped my sentiment, added a few sequins with pearls on top and the sparkly butterfly and that finished the outside of the card.

And this is how I finished off the inside of the card...

This was a really fun technique! I will be using it again. Thank you for visiting me today.

Blessings~

What a beautiful card, Barb! I really like how delicate the flowers look using the technique you described. Of course, I adore the butterflies, too. :) Thank you for giving a rundown about how the technique. I have marked this post to be saved so I can come back to it. Have a happy day!
