Happy Autumn Shaker Card

Hello Friends! My card share today was inspired by Kristina Werner and Shari Carroll. Both of them recently created cards with tags and Shari's was a shaker card. And that is what I decided to make.

Take a look...The picture is a little blown out, because I've inked the tag and it's not as stark as it's coming across on screen.

I started off by stamping my background on the card base. For this I used a combination of Versamark and Soft Suede inks. Then I inked the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress ink. Next, I worked on the tag. I pulled out my Coluzzle-remember that tool?-and cut the tag shape. Then I die cut the leaf shape. I added Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Peeled Paint Distress inks to the leaf and set it aside to dry. Using my Crop-a-dile, I punched a hole in the top of the tag and added the die cut reinforcement. Then, I stamped my greeting and dusted ink around the edges of the tag. I added a strip of patterned paper to the bottom of the tag for a little interest. It was looking really plain and I thought the pop of color was a good choice. And it was from the patterned paper, that I pulled my sequin colors. But, before I could add the sequins, I had to do a little side task...

The foam squares could be seen from the front of the card. That's a no, no! So, I used a brown marker to color the exposed white tape and that made it disappear. I was a happy camper! Now, it was time to add the sequins. I love making shaker cards, they are so much fun! I loaded this one up with lots of colorful sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. After the sequins were secured. I adhered the die cut leaf to the back, so it would show thru the die cut leaf window.

And finally, I adhered the tag onto the card base with Pop Dots. I tied on a Linen Thread bow and added more sequins to the tag. I honestly was not planning on doing this, as this card is being given to a man, but, I was not tidy in cleaning up my Distress ink on my craft sheet and I got random ink spots on the tag. Ugh! And rather than pitching the whole thing and starting over, I decided to embellish!

Next, I moved on to the inside of the card...

I used more of the patterned paper and random stamped some leaves, too. And although, the camera doesn't show it, the edges of the vanilla card stock have been inked.

And that was the card for today! I hope you liked it and maybe got inspired to try a shaker card.

Have a great weekend!

Blessings~

What a wonderful card, Barb! I love shaker cards, but haven't made one in forever. Thanks for the step by step of what you did, including inking up the foam edges (so smart). The final result is super. Whoever receives this is lucky for sure. :)
