30 Day Coloring Challenge 3 - Day 26

Hello Friends! Today, I did a little watercoloring. Actually, I did a lot of watercoloring. My mother volunteers at a hospital. She visits patients, talks with them, prays for them, keeps them company. Well, she wanted to give each of the patients she visits a little something. Soooo...I presented her with an idea and being the gracious mother that she is, she accepted my proposal. So, I created a stack of what I'm calling, Ministry Cards, just for her. Take a look...

I created these assembly line style and I used my MISTI. I decided that I wanted to watercolor using Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens because I could do that quickly, with minimal blending. I have found that colored pencils take the longest for blending, then Copic markers. Watercoloring is a breeze!

I stamped the pumpkins onto watercolor paper with brown ink and then embossed the image with clear embossing powder. I watercolored each one and set it aside to dry. Then I added the front greeting.

Next, I stamped the message on the inside.

A little sweep across the pumpkins with a clear Wink of Stella and rounded corners, finished these tiny cards off. Card size is 3.5 x 3.5. Small enough to fit into her pocket, yet large enough to make an impact on the recipient. So what do you think? I plan to make her a stack of twenty Ministry Cards each month. It's going to be fun selecting the images. I'm thinking about a wreath for December. Or maybe three Christmas trees. We like the significance of the 3; Father, Son, Holy Spirit. That's why she choose the pumpkin trio. I don't know...I'll have to look thru my stamp collection and see what I come up with.

Sooo...I tied up each stack with twine and then packaged them all up to be mailed off to Mommy.

And that was that! Thanks for visiting me today. I appreciate it!

Blessings~

What a beautiful and thoughtful idea, Barb! Your first set is lovely. I think the size is perfect. What a generous family you all are. So giving of your time and talents. The world would be ever so much nicer if there were more Barbs and Barb's moms in it. Big hugs to you!

Your Ministry cards are wonderful, Barbara. The perfect idea for sharing your creativity and your and your mom's kindness. Jennifer McGuire would approve! Thanks for sharing details of your assembly-line approach, too.

Oh, Barb, your Ministry Cards are beautiful and will be loved by the patients! I'm sure they love your mom as she visits with them and prays for them. What a blessing and a true ministry. And now you are an integral part of her ministry. I love these beautiful cards, and I love the idea of using three to represent the persons of God! How precious! I've not tried the Zig pens (they seem pricey yet for me since I'm so invested in Copic markers), but you've really colored them beautifully. And I love the two card fronts and the inside. Beautiful, my friend! You are a treasure! Hugs!
