Hello Friends! It's been a long time since we've visited with each other! I hope you all are well. I've been resting and relaxing, spending time with my daughters and family members. I had scheduled a coloring party for this weekend, but I just couldn't pull it off...I'm not feeling well. But...this too shall pass.
While I was resting I colored up a few images. I was gifted the Botanical Tree stamp set from Power Poppy and I just LOVE it! The tree is comprised of lots of buds, berries and blooms and they were a delight to color. And guess what?! ALL of the Holiday Stamps are on sale right now! What a treat! So, if you like this set, go grab it! Holiday digital stamps are on sale as well and there are some darling images in the store.
Sooo, my card share for today features the Botanical Tree and I have two versions to show you. Both of the cards are basically the same. Both are embossed in gold and both are watercolored. I will point out the differences as I break down the construction of each card. First up, is Botanical Tree on Green. Click on the images to enlarge them.
I tried a new paper for my watercoloring. Michael's had a sale and I picked up a pad of Strathmore Bristol. I've been hearing a lot of buzz about this paper and I finally bought some and let me just say that I love it so far! It's a smooth, heavy weight paper, not a brilliant white like Neenah, but not off white either like Stratmore watercolor paper. It's a nice in between color that works well with Neenah Solar White card stock. Back to the card...I die cut a piece of the Bristol with a stitched rectangle die, then using my MISTI, I stamped the tree image, using Versamark ink. Next, I sprinkled on some WOW gold embossing powder and heat set it. I taped the piece onto my watercolor board and colored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens and a damp brush. I set it aside to dry and worked on the sentiment strip. I heat embossed the Merry Christmas onto a strip of card stock vellum, using the same gold embossing powder that I used on the tree. Then, I folded the strip around the focal panel and adhered it. Next, I matted the focal with green textured card stock and mounted it onto my card base with fun foam. I added a tiny bit of Clear Wink of Stella to the poinsettias, but the red started to run, so I stopped. And to finish off the card, I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins. I made a coordinating envelope, as well.
My next card is Botanical Tree on Red. At first glance, this card may look a lot like the previous card, but there are a few differences. Let's check them out.
Other than the obvious card stock color change, this card was watercolored with Distress markers. And I added a bitty gold bow onto the bottom of the tree and sprinkled a few gold stars around for interest. I also created an envelope for this card. Even though this image has poinsettias in it, I think it could be used all year round. By simply coloring the bracts a lighter color, this could be a spring time card. It's a beautiful set whatever time of year it's used!
I am entering these cards into the Power and Spark challenge at Power Poppy. This month the theme is: Time to Rewind. Where we can pick our favorite challenge from 2015. I decided to Go For The Gold! You can read all about the challenge HERE. Join in for an opportunity to win a FREE stamp set of your choice.
And that's a wrap for me! Thank you so much for stopping by!
Blessings~

So good to see you, Barb and your beautiful work! Both these cards are luscious! Stamping and embossing in gold gives them instant elegance and your coloring techniques just add to the beauty. I like how you did them two ways and highlighted the differences. Gives that extra bang for your buck for sure. Thanks so much for sharing and have a wonderful week! Hugs!
Beautiful! I love how you colored the tree. TFS!
Oh, Barb, these are both so gorgeous with the embossing, and your coloring is always so beautiful! Just love how you've changed each up a bit and added the vellum sentiment on one and the gold bow and stars on the other. And what beautiful envelopes too. Hope you are feeling better. I know how that feels. Tender hugs, my friend!
So, so beautiful, Barbara! I have this very image on my desk right now -- embossed in gold on watercolor paper -- just waiting for me to finish it. I LOVE what you did with it! And that plaid envelope with the first card adds a whole other look to it, as well. Smitten! If I didn't already have this set, you would have sold it to me! I hope you're feeling better by now.
You did a beautiful job with these designs Barbara! The gold embossing is gorgeous I love those little stars and gold bow and the vellum sentiment is perfect too! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Power Poppy this month!
