Hello Friends! Today is a special day because we are celebrating Rhea's birthday! Yaaaay! Rhea Weigand is one of my Power Poppy sister design team members. I'm sure many of you are familiar with her ABSOLUTELY STUNNING artwork, her informative blog, Passionate Paper Creations or perhaps you're a member of her fun Facebook group, Passionate Paper Creations and Friends. If you've not connected with Rhea yet, make sure you do! She is a Copic coloring MASTER and she shares lots of information, as well as her very helpful Copic color combination charts.
So, in honor of this very special lady, Marcella has created a very special digi stamp set and we were given the opportunity to make a card for our dear friend, Rhea. And because Marcella is SUCH a sweetheart, she has made this set available for all of you. It's called, Orchid Dreams and it's a beauty.
Two beautiful images and one lovely sentiment; one book has a bit of text, the other is blank. There is a bit of a story behind this set, as well. Rhea has just returned from a very looooong Hawaiian vacation, hence the 'dreaming of the islands' and the tropical plant. AND, she's prone to losing her glasses, so Marcy added a pair in the illustration for her. Cute and fun!
I printed the image onto Cryogen White card stock and colored it with Copic markers. I did really simple coloring here, not a lot of blending and fussing about. Because this is Rhea's 50th birthday, I wanted to add a few gold touches. So, not only did I use gold sequins but, I also colored the glasses with a gold tone Copic marker and then I went over that with a Gold Wink of Stella glitter pen.
I also added Crystal Effects to the 'glass' portions to give shine and dimension. I love the way they turned out. Here's a close-up of the close-up. :)
I tied on a bit of organza ribbon for more sparkle. Then adhered the focal panel onto my card base. I used the sentiment included in this set on the inside of my card.
I re-colored, re-sized and horizontally flipped the main image so it would fit nicely in the corner. I really like the looks of that sentiment. I kept the inside simple, too. Except now, I think I should have colored the glasses gold! LoL! I may have to do that.
So that's it for me! If you want to see what my team mates have created with this image, buzz on over to the Power Poppy blog and have a look-see.
Thanks for stopping by! And...I will probably be silent for a few weeks. I'm going to get some rest. I'm feeling good but, I get tired easily and I don't want to over do it.
Have a great week!
Blessings~

Oh wow, this looks fabulous, Barb! I love all the details you added. I noticed the glossy on the eye glasses when I enlarged the first big photo. I also love the sparkly gold glasses. I really like how you finish the inside of the card, too. All around fantastic card. What a lucky and special lady your friend is!! You take all the time you need to rest and recuperate my friend! Pop me a line or two from time to time if you feel like it, though. :) Gentle, healing hugs!
What a blessing you are! Thank you so much. Your card is just beautifully colored and I love the inside. Thank you for putting a little glitter on my glasses so I can find them.....lol. xoxoxoxo
Such a pretty, happy birthday card! Love the gold touches and the crystal effects glasses, clever!
Love the orchid image - especially in these colors!
Oh, sweet Barb, what a gorgeous card, and I love the colors you've used and how you've even made the inside so pretty! I love it, my friend, and it's wonderful that you were able to color this one up! Hugs! xoxo
