Power Poppy ~ Tree Peony

Hello, Friends! Happy Thursday! I'm here to share a new Power Poppy digi set. It's a BIG one, with lots of petals to color. The possibilities with this one are endless...enlarge it, crop out a section, highlight a section, just let your creative mind run free! This beauty is called, Tree Peony.

Just LOOK at that! Gorgeous, isn't it? Here's what Marcella had to say...

"If you think peonies are frilly and fantastic, have you ever seen a TREE peony? The woody cousin of herbaceous peonies, the ones that most everyone is familiar with, have much larger blooms, more exotic coloration, and dazzling centers. The foliage is beautifully cut and is a lighter green than regular peonies, and they grow on large shrubs. Flowers can be 8" across when fully open! This is my homage to the Tree Peony, re-freshed and re-newed for spring release, and a favorite of my mother, Susan.  (Her birthday would have been April 29th)."

I decided to do a little soft watercoloring on this one. Please click on the picture to enlarge it.

I printed the image onto smooth bristol card stock, cut it out with my Brother ScanNCut2, then watercolored it with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. After it was dry, I spritzed it with shimmer spray. I printed the sentiment panel onto a piece of Papertrey Ink Rustic White card stock and colored the "BIRTHDAYS" in with a purple Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencil and blended that from the bottom up with gamsol. Then went overtop with a clear Wink of Stella glitter brush. I adhered the panel and the peony with foam tape and finished the card off with a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

That's it for me today! Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings~

Gorgeous work, Barb! I adore your watercoloring. The purple is so soft and beautiful. You chose some lovely pattern paper that work perfectly and even that little bit of twine fits the mood. Fantastic card! Happy hugs! Happy weekend! :)
