When Pigs Fly...

It's New Release Day over at DZ Doodles! Diane has so many wonderful images for you to create your holiday cards...get on over there and take a look! When I was approached with the winged Santa pig, I thought...okay...I'll give it my best shot. Well, here he is...aptly named When Pigs Fly. I've used this card sketch before and thought I'd pull it out once again. I printed the image a couple of times, so I could cut out the wings to add some dimension. The wings get their sparkle from a dusting of Dazzling Diamonds. Click on the image to enlarge it to see the details. I used a scallop edge punch to create the border on the New Leaf cs and then I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch the holes in the scallops. I think the little fella is really cute and look, he's smiling at you!

Sweet Penguin

I have another DZ Doodles digital image card to share with you today...this sweet penguin. Isn't he adorable? There are a few other penguin images offered on the site, so stop by and take a look. This card was very quick and easy to make and I chose not to put a sentiment on it, so I could use it for Christmas or to send a winter greeting to someone. I colored the little guy with Copics and cut him out with oval Nesties. The snowflakes were created using a Versamark pad, Stampin' Ups Iridescent Ice embossing powder, a Sizzix punch and a piece of scrap card stock. Easy peasy. I made several of them in just minutes.

Supplies-card stock:Georgia Pacific white. True Black(PTI). paper:Mistletoe Kisses(Daisy Bucket). digital image: Penguin A(DZ Doodles). other:Oval Nesties, both classic and scallop(Spellbinders). snowflake punch(Sizzix). Iridescent Ice EP(SU!). Copic Markers. ribbon from my stash.

Thanks for the visit. I hope you come back again. Until next time....

Candy Corn Wreath

When I saw this image at DZ Doodles, I knew I wanted to work with it. I love candy corn and I only eat it around this time of year. I like to get a big bag of it and a jar of peanuts and then mix them together. I put them into little harvest bags and give them to my friends. I also keep a big stash for myself in a candy dish on my desk. I have my friend Judi to thank for that bad habit. :-)

On to my card...I've got a few things working here that I want to bring to your attention. Candy corn is candy corn so I couldn't go too wild with the colors on my digital image, but I did cut it out and emboss it with square Nesties. I colored the image with Copics and some of the stars got a touch of sparkle from Spica glitter pens. The orange card stock was embossed with my Cuttlebug and a Pumpkin Harvest embossing folder. I also outlined the embossing with a clear Sakura Gelly Roll glitter pen. I like that pen for outlining because it has a nice big tip, so it covers a lot of space with little effort. I like the sparkle it gives to the card stock, kind of wakes it up a bit. I finished it off with a sweet sentiment and some Plum Pudding ribbon from PTI.

supplies- card stock:Only Orange(SU!). Summer Sunrise(PTI). White(GP). digital image:Candy Corn Wreath(DZ Doodles). stamp: sentiment "sweet" Cupcake Collection(PTI). ink:Sweet Leaf(CTMH). ribbon:Plum Pudding(PTI). brads: Hot off the Press. other: Word Window Punch(SU!). Cuttlebug, Pumpkin Harvest embossing folder(ProvoCraft). coloring media: Copic markers. Spica At You glitter pens.(Copic). Gelly Roll pen(Sakura).

Thank you so much for spending a little time with me today. I hope you have an awesome day!

New Releases from DZ Doodles!

Diane is sharing some new digital images today! I chose to make a Christmas card this time around. Make sure to stop by DZ Doodles to see all of the fun new images and check out the DT Gallery, too for lots of inspiration. I really liked the way my card turned out. I hope that the focal image shows as a rich cream color on your monitor, because it's very close in color to DP that I used. On my monitor it looks light cream.

DZ Doodles Color Challenge

This week there is a Color Challenge at DZ Doodles! The colors we were to use are black and orange. These are fitting colors for a Halloween card, but I decided to challenge myself to make anything BUT a Halloween card. I invite you to join in the Challenge, because you just might win a free digital image. Drop in and take a peek and you can read all the details. Here is my take on the Challenge...

My CTMH products were getting lonely, so I put them to use for this card. This is Shelby. She's a cutie, riding her scooter. You can find Shelby enjoying many other activities at the DZ Doodles site. This digital download contains two images; Shelby on her scooter, and the basket of flowers. After I colored both images with Copic markers, I cut them out with paper snips, and mounted everything on foam tape. The Autumn Terracotta base is stamped with a CTMH background stamp and I finished the card off with a bit of gingham ribbon.I decorated the inside of the card with black and Vintage Cream card stock, a small scrap of the same DP that I used on the outside and then I put Prima flowers in the corner. I hope you play along with us and I hope you WIN!!

Supplies-All items are CTMH. card stock:Autumn Terracotta, Black,White. Vintage Cream(PTI). paper:Expedition paper pack. digital image:Shelby Scooter(DZ Doodles). stamps:sentiment-For Every Occasion. background-Adorable Backgrounds. ribbon:Autumn Terracotta Collection. ink:Autumn Terracotta. other: black brads from my stash. Prima flowers. Copic Markers. Scor-Pal.

I appreciate you stopping by. Until next time...

DZ Doodles New Release Day

Today is New Release Day at DZ Doodles! Diane has so many images she wants to share with all of us! Take a moment to visit the site, look at the cute images and browse the Gallery...you are sure to be inspired. For this release, I have created three cards.

It was such fun coloring the cardinal. I used 4 or 5 different Copic reds on him. I cut him out with paper snips and mounted him on foam tape. I used my square Nesties for his resting spot. While the card stock was still in the Nestie, I sponged it with Heavenly Blue ink. I think he looks quite at home on the holly berry background paper.

He was so much fun to color, I made two! I liked the idea of putting the cardinal in the 'snow'. I used snow background paper and put some Dazzling Diamonds on it, for a bit of sparkle. Although, I don't think my camera picked that up so nicely for you. You can always click on the image for a closer look.

My last card features this little cutie. She reminded me of my girls when they used to play dress up. They would take my shoes, hats and purses and just have a great time...pretending to be mommies, or having a tea party. I used a sketch from the Victoria Case challenge for this one.

Thanks for the visit! Have a wonderful weekend. Until we meet again...

Gifts of Spring

Okay, so I'm on this Design Team now and, it's true, I have a lot of images at my disposal. But it seems like everyone is creating with scarecrows and pumpkins, snowmen and santa. I didn't really feel like doing that today, so I chose this little darlin'. It's Thelma again and this time she's bearing gifts of spring...some potted tulips, in a cracked pot no less! LOL! Gotta love Thelma! I also decided to keep my card very simple, no fancy punches, no buttons, no glitz, no glam. I wanted to create something that a beginner could re-create and a seasoned card crafter could build on. I love Thelma, I think she's a hoot! If you haven't stopped by DZ Doodles lately, you're really missing out!

Supplies-Card stock:Stampers White, New Leaf, Melon Berry(PTI). Paper: Green Tea Leaves pad(PTI). digital image:Thelma with Tulips(DZ Doodles). sentiment stamp:Mailbox Greetings(PTI). Ink:Melon Berry(PTI). Ribbon:Celery striped(Stamp Simply). Copic Markers. Scor-Pal.

Today is the day I usually begin decorating the house for Autumn. It's over 100 degrees at my house today, fall is just not in the air! The trees are changing, so that's a good sign. I'm ready to start knitting again and wrap up in something warm and cozy. I want to make big pots of soup and homemade biscuits. I'm ready to smell pumpkin spice and cinnamon clove candles burning. And I long for cooler days. Sooo, I'm just sittin' here...waitin'! *sighs*

Thank you so much for visiting with me today! Until next time...

A Little Cutie!

I have another digital image from DZ Doodles to share today. This is Jack-O-Pup. Isn't it cute? I don't send out Halloween cards, but I got a request for some, and this is what I made. It was very simple and fast to create. I find that these days, I need that more and more. Make sure you drop by the DZ Doodles site and look at all of the wonderful images Diane has added. The great thing about digital stamps is that you get them right away and they can be re-sized to fit your particular project.

I hope the ribbon looks purple on your monitor, on mine it looks blue.

You have to drop by and take a look! I am sharing a card made with the Rainy Day Girl image.
