Happy 4th of July!

Hello Friends! Happy Thursday to you! Some of you may know that each week for the past few months, I've participated in the Makeover Monday Challenges hosted by the Paper Crafter's Library. Well, this week, they issued their last MMC. *sad face* Yes, they decided to go in a different direction so this post will be my last one regarding the makeovers. I am very grateful for the lessons learned there, things I will use in my card crafting for years to come.

Okay, onto my card...

Yes, it's a 4th of July card. Because when I saw the inspiration piece, I thought about flags. Then I thought about the popular chevron patterns that are all the rage right now. And I thought about this fun paper pad I had with a nifty vintage feel. And vintage made me think of the Vintage Picnic stamp set. Sooo, I just pulled all of the pieces together and created this card.

 supplies~
stamp set: Vintage Picnic(PTI)
card stock: Rustic Cream(PTI)
card stock paper: Kraft Funday(My Mind's Eye)
ink: Vineyard Berry(CTMH)   Memento Rich Cocoa(Tsukineko)   Vintage Photo Distress Ink(Ranger)
other: Deckled Edge Nestabilites(Spellbinders)  Happy Days Twine(My Mind's Eye)  Copic Markers

I put the chevrons on their side to resemble the strips of the fish tail cut patterned paper from the inspiration piece. I used dimensional adhesive on the flag to bring attention to it and lift it up, like the flag on the original card. And I fish tail cut my sentiment strip. It's really not so bright in real life. It's grungy and has a nice vintage feel, which is exactly what I was attempting to achieve.

I'm so glad you dropped by! Thanks for visiting!

Blessings~

Wow, wow, wow! This is awesome! I can't wait to have summer weather again. I like snow, but it always nice to feel the hot sun.

Thanks so much for the Valentine's Day card! I love it!

What a great card, Barb! I'm sorry that the challenges will end, but as you say, you can use the lessons you learned for years. It was definitely successful in that way.

Love the card and the vintage feel. Wonderful use of the chevrons, all around great job.

I want to echo Kim's thanks. I loved the Valentine's card you sent me! You are fabulous!

Hugs!
