You're Eggstra Special!

Hello Friends! Happy Sunday to you! I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. I'm enjoying my last day of Spring break. The weather is wonderful! We had freezing rain last night and this morning there were blue skies with fluffy clouds. The air is crisp and cool and I love it like that.

I was able to crank out a few cards for the challenge over at Paper Crafter's Library. You can see the inspiration piece HERE. It is a beautiful card, by Andrea Walford, featuring three butterflies. So so pretty! I kept the element of three and decided to go the CAS route.

I needed some little cards to tuck inside of the Spring baskets we give to the girls and our niece and nephew. I thought these would be perfect. They came together very quickly. I only glittered the center egg, because it's 'eggstra special' just like each of them. These were fun to make because I didn't have to fiddle and fuss with patterned paper. I just stuck to the basics...stamps, card stock and ink. Hmmm...I may be on to something!

Thanks for dropping in today! I appreciate the visit!

Journey

Hello Friends and Happy Spring! I know we are all experiencing weather that may or may not be spring-like, but according to the calender, spring has sprung! As much I enjoy Spring with the warmer days, beautiful flowers and bird song, I do not look forward to my girls having allergy attacks. So far so good. I heard about the high pollen count in Atlanta, Georgia and I tell you what, I don't envy my friends and family who live there. My eyes start itching just thinking about it!

Well, this Spring the girls and I are embarking on a new journey. We are planting an edible garden...in containers. We had a vegetable garden at our previous home, but never took that task on here, because we live on a mountain and it's full of hard, compacted soil and rocks, lots and lots of rocks. But, with the help of Pinterest, I am finding all kinds of interesting ways to plant a garden. I love the idea of containers, too, because we can move them around and I don't have to be down on my knees. I'm anxious to get things going and since Easter break is coming up, I hope to get a few things planted. I'll post updates from time to time.

So, now let's get to what you really  came for the crafty bits! This is the card I created for the Monday Makeover Challenge for the Paper Crafter's Library. The inspiration piece is a beautiful card, by Andrea Walford, featuring an Eiffel Tower. Seeing that reminded me of an Eiffel Tower stamp in my stash, so I pulled it out and created this card.

supplies~
stamps: Journey Collage, Eiffel Tower(Memory Box)
card stock: Kraft(GinaK Designs)   Vintage Cream, True Black, Pure Poppy(Papertrey Ink)
patterned paper: Enamored Embrace from the Le'Romantique Collection and Tour de France from the Curtain Call Collection(Graphic 45)
ink: Tea Dye, Walnut Stain, Crushed Olive Distress Inks(Ranger)   Black(Close to My Heart)
ribbon: Pure Poppy(Papertrey Ink)
felt: Pure Poppy(Papertrey Ink)
die: Rolled Roses(My Favorite Things)
other: Copic markers    leaves from my stash

I love the rolled roses that are so popular right now. I decided to purchase the die, that way I can make roses in any color or pattern I desire. I did a little sponging with distress inks and stamped the text onto the card stock. Then I stamped the Eiffel Tower in Black and added a bit of shading with a Copic marker. After that, I just adhered all the pieces together, added the rolled rose and leaves and I was finished.

Thank you for stopping in today!

All Things Grow with Love

Hello Friends! Happy Friday and Happy St. Patrick's Day Eve! Any one have big plans for the weekend? We are expecting severe storms, so my family and I will be spending the day at home. I have our traditional St. Patrick's Day meal planned...corned beef, cabbage, roasted red potatoes and carrrots...I love the way the house smells when I prepare that meal. Anywho...enough jabbering.

I created a card for the Makeover Challenge at Paper Crafter's Library. Click HERE to see the inspiration piece. I kept a similar layout as the original piece and I also went with a gardening theme. I used my new stamp set from Flourishes, another one of my Black Friday/Cyber Monday buys. It's a really cute set and I'll be using it again real soon. You can find it HERE.

ETA: not sure why my photos are showing up blurry. when you click to enlarge, it's crystal clear.
supplies~
stamp set: From the Garden(Flourishes)
card stock: Vintage Cream(PTI)   Sweet Corn, Green Apple(GinaK Designs)
water color paper:Stampin' Up!
patterned paper: Picadilly(Basic Grey)
ink: Timber Brown Staz-On(Tsukineko)   Weathered Wood, Stormy Sky, Rusty Hinge, Forest Moss, Antique Linen, Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain, Black Soot, Tea Dye Distress Inks(Ranger)
dies: Classic Circle and Scallop Circle Nestabilities(Spellbinders)
other: copper brads(GinaK Designs)  Rustic Twine(PTI)   button(Stampin' Up!)

I stamped my image on water color paper and colored it with Distress Inks. I really LOVE this technique...dare I say it?? Almost as much as I love coloring with Copics! gasp! It's so easy and relaxing. And, fyi...I use the ink pads themselves, not the re-inkers. I smudge a bit of ink onto an acrylic block and pick up the color with my water brush. I know in the videos, many people use re-inkers and that's great. I don't have re-inkers, so I use what I have. After the image was dry, I cut it out with Nesties and mounted it with dimensional adhesive. It's a simple card, but I like it. I'm trying not to add so many layers these days, so I can mail the cards without postal hassles.

One more thing, before I go...The generous ladies over at Paper Crafter's Library are giving away a ONE YEAR SUBSCRIPTION to Paper Crafter's Libray. If you've never stopped by the blog, click HERE to visit and to read all about the giveaway. It's quite a sweet deal.

And that is all I have for you today! Have a wonderful weekend!

Using a stamp-a-ma-jig, I stamped my image in yellow first and then slightly moved the image over and stamped it in green. I like the two-toned shadow effect it makes. The focal image is adhered with dimensional adhesive.

I know there is a lot going on in our country involving horrible weather conditions. I pray that all is well in your neck of the woods. Thank you for stopping by today.

Happy 4th of July!

Hello Friends! Happy Thursday to you! Some of you may know that each week for the past few months, I've participated in the Makeover Monday Challenges hosted by the Paper Crafter's Library. Well, this week, they issued their last MMC. *sad face* Yes, they decided to go in a different direction so this post will be my last one regarding the makeovers. I am very grateful for the lessons learned there, things I will use in my card crafting for years to come.

Okay, onto my card...

Yes, it's a 4th of July card. Because when I saw the inspiration piece, I thought about flags. Then I thought about the popular chevron patterns that are all the rage right now. And I thought about this fun paper pad I had with a nifty vintage feel. And vintage made me think of the Vintage Picnic stamp set. Sooo, I just pulled all of the pieces together and created this card.

 supplies~
stamp set: Vintage Picnic(PTI)
card stock: Rustic Cream(PTI)
card stock paper: Kraft Funday(My Mind's Eye)
ink: Vineyard Berry(CTMH)   Memento Rich Cocoa(Tsukineko)   Vintage Photo Distress Ink(Ranger)
other: Deckled Edge Nestabilites(Spellbinders)  Happy Days Twine(My Mind's Eye)  Copic Markers

I put the chevrons on their side to resemble the strips of the fish tail cut patterned paper from the inspiration piece. I used dimensional adhesive on the flag to bring attention to it and lift it up, like the flag on the original card. And I fish tail cut my sentiment strip. It's really not so bright in real life. It's grungy and has a nice vintage feel, which is exactly what I was attempting to achieve.

I'm so glad you dropped by! Thanks for visiting!

Makeover Monday Challenge #11

Hello Friends! Happy Wednesday! It's going to be a short post...I'm still not feeling all that well. Today I am sharing the card I created for the MMC's presented by Paper Crafter's Library. You can read more about the challenges by clicking HERE. I chose to make another Valentine.

supplies~
stamp set: Out on a Limb Sentiments(Papertrey Ink)
card stock: Cryogen White(Papertemptress)   Real Red, Pretty in Pink(Stampin' Up!)
patterned paper: Love Me Collection(My Mind's Eye)
ink: Hollyhock, Blush(Close to My Heart)   Memento Angel Pink(Tsukineko)
other: Deckle Edge Nestabilities(Spellbinders)   Heart Stick Pins(Maya Road)   Pearls(Mark Richards)  Ribbon(MemrieMare Etsy)   Mini Rolled Roses Die-Namics(My Favorite Things)   Pure Poppy felt(Papertrey Ink)

This one came together pretty quickly. I made the little rose you see there. I used a die to cut the felt and then rolled it! I've been waiting to use it and I thought this card was just perfect for it. Okay...I'm off to rest some more.

Thank you for visiting today!

Blessings~
