Back to School Gift Card Holder

Hello Friends, happy Monday! As you may know, I’ve been playing along with the Thursday challenges at Meljen’s Designs. Well…participating has rewards and I am a Winner! THIS card was randomly selected in the weekly drawing and I won 3 FREE digital images of my choice. How cool is that? It made me extremely happy, because I have a very loooong Meljen’s Designs Wish List and being able to scratch 3 images off is a VERY good thing. I also have the honor of placing this award on my blog…isn’t it cute?

I used one of my new images to play along with the new challenge, which is BACK TO SCHOOL. This adorable image is called, Little School Books. I went ‘old school’ on this one and colored it with good old-fashioned Crayola Colored Pencils. I used my Prisma Color blending pencil to soften and blend. I decided to make a gift card holder to give to my daughter. Patricia is in the 11th grade now! I can hardly believe it! Yes, she is still home schooled, but we LOVE traditional school supplies and it is fun to go ‘Back to School’ shopping.

I used my go-to layout for a gift card holder. I originally found it HERE, four years ago, and I still love it! It is super easy and very adaptable to fit many images for any occasion. I added a bit of Crystal Effects to the apple to make it shiny. The shimmer on the hearts is from a red glitter pen.

The focal panel serves as the closure for the holder. It is anchored by two pieces of dimensional adhesive at the bottom of the image.

And finally, the view of it opened. I decorated the inside too, because although I really like the Soft Suede card stock color, I just felt it had too much of a masculine feel to it, for Trisha. She is quite the girly girl. In fact, she will probably buy nail polish and lip gloss with the gift card, instead of school supplies! LOL! The greeting and stars are rub-ons.

Materials Used:
digital image: Little School Books(Meljen's Designs)

What a sweet gift card holder! (You just showed me that when you know how to color, you don't have to use high priced markers. I definitely need lessons...)
