Hello Friends! I'm going to show you the card I created for the Thursday Challenge at Meljen's Designs. But before I do, I've got some WONDERFUL news to share with you...all of Meljen's Designs are ON SALE until October 31! No coupon code needed...just go there and shop! You know this has me doing the happy dance!
The challenge this week is entitled Missing You. Those words make my heart heavy. I am missing so many people. I decided to work with the Darling Dalmatian image and I kept my card design very simple...right to the point...I Miss You.
This little guy is printed on my favorite Cryogen White card stock. I paper pieced his scarf with the same paper I used for the background. I created a mask of the image and using a sponge and a hand drawn template, I created the clouds. I did my sponging while the image was still in the die, so I could keep my border clean and white. Then I sponged in some grassy green to ground the little fella, so he wouldn't be floating in mid-air.
ETA: I have received many questions about how I make my clouds. So I went thru my archives and found THIS post. Scroll down past all the "blah blah blah" and there is an explanation and photo about the clouds. Just a note: My favorite inks to use for the clouds are by Memento...Summer Sky, Danube Blue, Paris Dusk, London Fog and Angel Pink. I do mix and blend these, depending on the look I desire. For the Darling Dalmatian, I used only Summer Sky. I still use a wedge of sponge and a very light hand while adding the ink to my project. You can see another example of the clouds HERE, where I mixed the blues and added in a little London Fog and a touch of Angel Pink. There are also many videos on YouTube that show techniques for making clouds, but this is what works for me! If you have any more questions, please ask.
