Sweet {heart} Cupcake

Hello Friends! I know I don't usually post on the weekend, but I found some time today and wanted to share a little sweet treat with you. Valentine's Day is just a few days away and there is still time to make a card for your favorite someone. Stop by the MelJen's Designs Shop and browse thru all of the cute Valentine's Day themed images. Then take advantage of the Sweetheart Sale going on now! I found this adorable Sweetheart Cupcake and here is the card I created...

I chose to go with pinks and light reds on this one. I had a ball coloring it. I used my Inktense pencils. I kept them dry. The cupcake is printed onto my favorite card stock. And although, I usually reserve this card stock for Copic coloring, I found that it is the perfect surface for the Inktense pencils, as well. The pencils blend so smoothly. After I colored the image, I die cut it and gave it a light dusting with pink ink. I added crystal glitter and tiny twinkles to the frosting. I also outlined the swirls with a glitter pen. Now that I'm looking at it, I realize that I did not add the glaze pen on the hearts, as I had intended. Oh well! I will do that before I send it off! I really wanted this sweet cupcake to be the star of my card, so I kept embellishments to a minimum. Why do I feel like I have to always add a greeting on the front of my cards? Anyway...I stamped a greeting, dusted it with ink and added a bitty glittered heart. All of this is mounted onto the card base with dimensional adhesive.

I am entering this card into the Have a Heart challenge at Simon Says Stamp.

Beautiful, Barb! What a lovely card for Valentine's Day. Love the sparkly goodness and your coloring with the inktense pencils is outstanding! The background dusting of ink looks fab, too. Here you always put a greeting on and I often leave it off. Aren't we quirky? LOL So glad you got to play this weekend and share!
