His & Hers Sympathy Cards

Hello Friends! Today in H&H we talked about sympathy cards. Looks like I am not the only one who struggles when it comes to creating them! Anyway...a lot of times in class, it has been said, to 'just take a girl card and figure out how to make it a boy card'. Hmmm...So, that is what I did with today's homework.

I love Papertrey Ink's With Sympathy stamp set. I use it quite often. And that is what I used today.

If you follow my blog, you've seen the 'hers' card before. But you see with a few little changes, I was able to create a card that is more suitable for 'him'. Even though I used the same flourish stamp, I swapped out the pink rose buds, and added the modern flower. I was able to sneak in a few butterflies on 'his' card, too. I really feel like they work without being to feminine. I opted not to add any ribbon or patterned paper on 'his' card. One of the teachers today, Jennifer Rzasa, created cards with just a peek of colored card stock showing. I thought that was very cool, so that is what I did on 'his' card. When I've created sympathy cards in the past, I never really gave much thought to the gender of the recipient. I always thought about the gender of the person who passed. And I would make a card accordingly. I guess I will be doing things a little differently now!

Only a few more days of class left. I love these shorter classes. I feel like I can participate more and the pace, for me, is so much more relaxed. Tomorrow I think we are working on Mother's Day and Father's Day cards. Should be fun!

Thanks for visiting!

Blessings~

Wow Barb these are gorgeous. You really did a great job using a lot of the same supplies but changing it just perfectly for his and hers.

It is fascinating to read about the things one can do to make a card more masculine and feminine. You must be learning a lot and your cards are fabulous!

These are absolutely stunning, Barbara. It's a great class, isn't it?

To be honest, I believe your cards are much nice than the samples used in class!!

Fabulous designs! Each has perfect elements. The butterflies and touch of colored cardstock work well on the his card. The ribbon is fabulous on hers.
