Thinking of You

Hello Friends! I am finally getting an opportunity to share the cards I created with the Simon Says Stamp January 2015 Card Kit. It is loaded with fun stuff, and I'm sure it's sold out by now, but all of the products can still be purchased separately.

I just love the colors in this kit. One thing I really enjoy about receiving a new kit each month, is being able to try new things and using products I might never purchase on my own. This kit is a good example of that. I would probably skip over this patterned paper pack if I was shopping...it's just nothing that would catch my eye. But I am soooo glad that it was included in the kit, because I just LOVE it! The colors and subtle patterns are so pretty. Also included in the kit is a pot of Perfect Pearls in Grape Fizz ,along with a brush and Mini Mister, both used in the application of Perfect Pearls. I think it's very thoughtful of SSS to include those items, so that basically one has everything one needs to create a card right out of the box!

I struggle with cards that have a sentiment as the focal point. And since this stamp set is mostly sentiments, I decided to just go for it. I was inspired by a card I saw on Kristina Werner's blog.

After brushing water onto the watercolor paper, I added three colors of Distress Ink and dried it with my heat tool. I added drops of water and blotted it off with a paper towel, to create that blotchy effect. Then, I spattered on drops of Distress Ink with a paint brush...messy, but cute. After everything was dry, I stamped the greeting with Versamark ink and heat embossed it. Then, I stamped the stars, also with Versamark ink and gently brushed on the Perfect Pearls and set it by spritzing lightly with water. Let me just say that Perfect Pearls are my new best friend! Sooo much fun and so easy to apply and the results are just gorgeous...so shimmery and beautiful. Okay...back to the card. Next, I die cut the water color paper and mounted it to my card base. The finishing touch was to add some Pretty Pink Posh sequins.

It's a bit out of my comfort zone, but it was fun trying new things.

That's all I have to share with you today. Thank you so much for stopping by.

Blessings~

Ohhhh Barb! I'm so glad you took the risk to venture out of your comfort zone. You knocked it out of the park! Wow! Love the background. It looks beautiful. The colors and the stars and the freeflowing feel of it. Excellent work! And the pattern paper in the background reminds me of Frozen for some reason. :)
