Day 13 - 30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hello Friends! I hope Monday was kind to you. I had a lot to accomplish today, but after the dust settled, I went into The Hive and did a little watercoloring to relax.

Here is my cast of characters. I will be using a few of the butterflies today.

I stamped the images onto the textured side of some Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock, using Versafine Onyx Black ink. I used this ink because it's a pigment ink, which means it stays wet for a while, so it can be used for embossing. Next, I sprinkled on clear super fine embossing powder. I do this because black embossing powder is a beast to work with. It gets every where, all over everything and it leaves a haze on the card stock. That has been my experience. I prefer this method, no mess, no fuss. After I heat set the powder, I let it cool for a bit, then began my watercoloring.

I decided to share a picture of my work surface while I was actually working on it. I always show the cleaned up version.

I just smoosh the ink pads onto my craft sheet, keeping the ink pad near the smear, for reference, and I pick up color as I need it. It's so convenient to have all the colors right at my fingertips. It makes mixing colors quick and easy. I did the same technique that I've shared in previous posts. I wet the area I want to add the color to and then I dampen my paint brush, pick up some color and tap it into the wet area and let the water move it around. If the paper seems too dry, I add a bit more water and the color begins to move again. Once I'm happy with my painting, I set it aside and let it air dry.

And that is it! Thank you for stopping by today! I hope your week is off to a great start!

Blessings~

Visiting from djkardkreations today...I must thank her for the introduction. Love your work and was compelled to comment on your coloring of the beautiful butterflies. I also just found out how wonderfully easy it is to use the craft sheet as a palette of sorts. I appreciate the tip of keeping the ink pad next to its color...how easy and a habit I hope to get into.(p.s. I don't have a blog; but I follow many which keeps me up-to-date and educated.) TFS
