30 Day Coloring Challenge 3 - Day Three and It's World Card Making Day!

Hello Friends! Welcome! Today is a big day in the card making industry. It's World Card Making Day! Not only are card makers all over the world, making cards but, there are also LOTS of sales going on, so make sure you stop by your favorite retailers and support them for this event. It's also day three in the 30 Day Coloring Challenge hosted by the fabulous, Kathy Racoosin of The Daily Marker blog. You simply MUST visit Kathy's blog to see the adorable cards she's created using a recycled Starbucks cup. They are sooo darling!

Okay...onto my card. Since it's World Card Making Day, I wanted to create something special and meaningful. Recently, I placed an order with Power Poppy stamps and I was gifted a stamp set. I was so pleased and thankful to receive it. It was one that I've had on my wish list for sometime now and when I saw it in the package, with a sweet little hand-written note, my heart was full. So. I decided to use that beautiful stamp set for my card today. Take a look at Sunny Harvest...

I love every single little detail about this set. Sunflowers are among my favorite flowers and this set has plenty of them. The Chinese Lanterns intertwined with the bittersweet is just lovely! I like that the names of these two plants are included in the greetings and the fonts are adorable! The quote from Thomas Jefferson is a beautiful one that reflects my feelings with each card I create and send.

I started off with a die cut panel of water color paper. I inked up my stamp with Versamark and then inked it up with brown ink. I sprinkled on clear embossing powder and heat set it. Then, using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens, I watercolored the image. After it was dry,  I used my MISTI tool to stamp on all of the words. Then, I sponged a little Antique Linen Distress ink around the edges. Next, I used my MISTI tool to stamp on all of the words. I added Clear Wink of Stella to the bittersweet berries and then coated them with Crystal Effects. I mounted the focal panel with foam tape and added a sprinkling of Pretty Pink Posh sequins to finish it off.

Here is a close-up for you. Look at the shine on those berries! And you can see a hint of sparkle on the Chinese lanterns, too.  Such a gorgeous illustration. I just love it!

**Note for Christi: You asked if the Crystal Effects causes the reds to run. I have not had that happen with the Crystal Effects. In addition, it doesn't tint and change the color underneath, either.**

I decorated the inside of the card, as well.

I stamped the image with a second generation stamping of Crumb Cake ink. It adds a little something, but anything written over it can still be read. Then I added a strip of patterned paper and tied on a bit of linen thread.

**I am entering this card into the Blitsy World Card Making Day Challenge #2-Watercolor.**

That's it and that's all! Thank you so much for visiting with me today. I look forward to sharing with you again tomorrow. Have a super Saturday! And make a card or two!

Blessings~

What a gorgeous card made from beautiful stamp set. Congratulations on receiving this from Power Poppy. You have made excellent use of the images. Gosh, it is so pretty, I almost don't know what to say! You've colored it so beautifully with the warm tones. That sentiment/quote is lovely and touches my heart. I very much appreciate the way you finish your cards inside, too. Happy World Cardmaking Day, my sweet friend. I hope you are able to color lots of images today and make a few cards, too. Big hugs!

What a lovely card, Barb! You can feel the warmth you created in those gorgeous images just by looking at it on the screen. Again, I love the touches of shimmer your WOS adds, and you made the inside of the card really beautiful too.

Thanks for the note on the Crystal Effects. ;) I don't know if you received my email last week or not, but I commented on it then...I think I may have to try some, as the Liquid Glass I have tends to cause the reds to turn orange.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful card, and I hope you enjoyed your crafty time this weekend.

hugs,
Christi
