Lilacs for Jeanne

Hello Friends! Today, I have a post honoring one of my blog readers, Jeanne of Creative Bliss blog. I have never met Jeanne face to face, but we've been friends for many years. I looked back in my blog archives and discovered that Jeanne and I have been supporting each other's artistic efforts since 2008. We started chatting through email, when Jeanne mentioned that she was looking for a patterned paper pad from BasicGrey. She couldn't find it in her area. I went out and found it at a local store near me and I contacted her to let her know I would send it to her. And from that point on, we were friends. We send each other cards for birthdays and various holidays. We email each other regularly and we are still supporting each other's artistic efforts. Jeanne has commented on 99.9% of my blog posts! True story. Many of my posts have only one comment...and that's from Jeanne.

I encourage you to visit Jeanne's blog. She's an awesome crafter. She makes super cute cards, she knits and crochets and she shares the most beautiful projects. She scrapbooks and she also makes some jaw dropping decorative items for her home. Go see for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

During one of our 'conversations', Jeanne mentioned that her mother loved lilacs. I told her that I did, too. And when I saw this Power Poppy French Lilac digital image, I knew I had to use it to make a  birthday card for Jeanne. The funny thing is, is that my birthday is in May and Jeanne made a beautiful card for me using this same image! I had to chuckle when I saw it, because I knew what I had planned and I went full steam ahead with my plan.

And here is my card....Lilacs for my sweet friend, Jeanne. (click on any image to enlarge it)

I wanted to send along something that was lilac scented and I found this adorable little candle at Bath and Body Works. Jeanne doesn't burn candles, but this one smells lovely without being lit. A candle warmer would work nicely for this, too.

I printed the image and greeting onto the smooth side of a die cut piece of Tim Holtz watercolor card stock. Then I watercolored it using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens. After it was completely dry, I added Crystal Effects to the little lady bug and lots of clear Wink of Stella to the blooms. Next, I added a touch of white gel pen to the center of each bloom to brighten them up a bit. A few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins finished the card off.

Here's a little close-up for you. I know I say it a lot, but it bears repeating, I just love Power Poppy images! Marcella Hawley, Power Poppy illustrator, has such attention to detail. She placed a lady bug on the leaf. A lady bug! Isn't that so sweet? I also like the open airy feel of the lilac.

I took this photo in dim lighting, to show the brilliant sparkle that I get from my Wink of Stella brush. I really do love that thing!
