Playing With Aquarelle Pencils

Hello Friends! I picked up a few sets of Faber-Castell Art Grip Aquarelle Watercolor pencils from HSN and I couldn't wait to share them with you. The ones I purchased came in color family sets, with nine pencils, including a metallic pencil in either silver or gold and a paint brush. I purchased the reds, the greens, the blues and the yellows. There were a few duplicates, but I don't really mind.

The pencils are smooth and creamy and they blend very well. I tried a few different techniques before I found the one that gave me the look I wanted. I used a damp paint brush and picked up color from the pencil lead and then applied that onto my image. I achieved this look with three pencils...

Then, after everything was all dry, I decided to make a card...click on the photo to enlarge it.

I stamped the image onto a piece of Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Card stock, using Versamark ink. Then I sprinkled white embossing powder over that and melted it down with my heat tool. I let it cool for second and then started my watercoloring. And...I had to add a little sparkle, so I punched a bitty butterfly from some glitter paper and I went over the image with a Clear Wink of Stella glitter brush. Another thing I like about these pencils is that once they are dry, they are permanent, which means that the WOS will not reactivate the pigment and change the color of the finished project.

That is it for me today. Thank you for stopping by! I hope your week has been great, so far!

Oh my gosh, Barb! This is absolutely gorgeous!! I adore the colors and the watercolor effect you got on these beautiful blooms. So very pretty! And that butterfly makes me want to swoon. Love! Gosh and you had just about the most perfect pattern paper for the background. The little dotted scallops on the bottom of the pink paper look amazing. This whole card makes me smile. You did well with these pencils and how great is that, that the color is permanent once dry. Fabulous! Hugs!! :)
