New Release Friday!

Hello Friends! It's Friday and that means that there are new images in the Meljen's Shop! Let's dive right in...

These new digis are SUPER cute! Isn't that Snowy Moose the cutest thing ever? The Frosty Winter Cupcake and the Ice Skates are extra special to me, because I requested them. Tee hee hee! Now onto the cards.

The ice skates are printed on water color paper and colored with water color pencils. I wanted to create a card with a nostalgic feel to it. In keeping with the greeting, it also had to be 'warm' yet still be wintery. So, I chose a color palette of Kraft, chocolate and cream. First, I stamped and embossed my greeting. Then, using an oval Nestie, I die cut the center of the Kraft card stock, and random stamped some snowflakes. I added warmth by sponging on two colors of distress ink. Next, I ran a thin line of glue pen around the edges and the oval and sprinkled them with crystal glitter. I adhered the ice skate panel and touched areas of the skates with glue pen, then added a touch of crystal glitter to them. It makes them look a bit frosty. I added lots of little gems, tied on some chocolate ribbon and called it done.

I just love the Frosty Winter Cupcake. I had a card in my head, but I couldn't for the life of me get it to come to fruition. I fiddled and fussed with this card for several days. I like the way the image is colored on this card and that is about it. I decided to share it anyway, for those of you who think all my cards are 'winners'.

My idea was to create a FROSTY card...glittery, shimmery, various shades of blue, set off by white. Even the background paper is a photograph of icicles. I feel that I have all the elements and yet...something is missing. No matter! I had to create this card in order to move on. Ever get that way? Here is a little close-up.

After I colored the frosting, I gave it a generous sprinkling of crystal glitter. I did lots of outlining with a glitter pen and added tiny twinkles, as well. Ok...moving on.

My last card share features the Snowy Moose. I love the moose, but I couldn't think of a card to make for the moose. I think I really just wanted to color the moose and put puffy snow on his antlers. I honestly was not going to post this card either, but I had a change of heart after receiving a 'talking to' from my 21 year old.

Okay. I do like the way the image turned out. LOVE the liquid applique snowy effect. I also used some sparkly fluff and liquid pearls to add to the snowy-ness. I love that Melissa puts scarves on her animals. That is just the cutest thing! And look at that smile...he's a very happy moose. At any rate, I had a ball coloring him, he's like 50 shades of brown. And in real life the image has a lot of depth and really nice shading.

Well that's all I have for you today. Please visit the Design Team Blog for more inspiration. Then swing by the Shop, grab these new digis and create something beautiful! Thanks for stopping by!

Well, how awesome is that? To be able to request designs...and get them! Cool! Barb, your coloring is fantastic on all three images. Fan.Tas.Tic! I adore how much detail you add to each one and I'm glad you tell us, because I would hate to miss knowing what it is that makes me like the image so well. I want to learn!

Thank you for sharing cards that are not necessarily your favorites. It is helpful to me to see that not all your cards are "winners" in your book. I like your being real!

Not that you asked, but, what if on that cupcake card you changed the background? It doesn't seem to "go" with the image. What if you layered the background with cardstock...blues for the bottom and white for the top layer, but you embossed it with snowflakes or something and then inked and added some of your lovely sparklies? That's what came to my mind and I thought I'd share.

Your moose is fabulous! Love him as is and thank your daughter for me!

Hope you don't mind this very wordy comment! HUGS! And Happy New Year!

I like your cards, Barb. I enjoy hearing your thoughts aout them. I'm glad you listened to your daughter about posting :) I do think there's something about the DP on your cupcake card that's off a bit. But I'm sure you'll "fix it" in time :)
Your coloring is magnificient as always!
