Power Poppy ~ Reel Deal

Hello Friends! Happy Friday! I've been busy in The Hive playing with the wonderful new fishing inspired digi sets from Power Poppy. If you haven't already, you'll want to buzz by the Power Poppy blog, because there is A TON of inspiration over there for you.

Today, I am focusing on the Reel Deal digi set and I've created two cards to share with you.

For the first card, I've used the main image and greetings from the set. I always try to create at least one sample showcasing just what's included in the digi set. That way you can see that you have all that you need to make a completed card. Please click on the images to enlarge them.

I printed the image onto smooth white card stock and colored it with Copic markers and colored pencils. I've seen this technique done quite a lot on various blogs and I really liked the results. I need a bit more practice but, I like the control I have over the shading when I use a colored pencil instead of a marker. Sometimes shading with a marker gets away from me. But, with the pencils, I was able to add just a little color at a time and achieve the results I wanted. I haven't used my Copic markers regularly for a while and boy was I rusty! Anyway...

I finished off the inside as well...

I changed the color on the main image, so it would be light enough to write over. Then I added the greeting that was included in the set right over top. And that was it!


For card #2, I created a very simple birthday card...easy to make, easy to mail!

I used the same coloring technique on this one...Copic markers with colored pencil for shading. This one will be super easy to mail because it's flat. I adhered the focal image right onto the patterned paper and there are no embellishments. I did add a bit of sparkle on the fishing line with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen.
